Optigrind CBN Grinding Wheels

CBN or Cubic Boron Nitride are the next level of sharpening for all of your High Speed Steel, alloy tool steel and nickle based super alloys, rarely for non hardened steels.

The high thermal conductivity results in very little heat generated through grinding, much better than with alox wheels.

The galvanic coating and the shape of the metal body also help to get rid of heat generated. That is, apart from the long working life, the excellent stock removal, the very good edge produced and the durability of the shape the biggest advantage of this system: The tools do not easily get blue.

The wheels are coated not only on the face but also on the side to allow you to flatten the backs of chisels, planes etc.

These steel wheels are factory balanced and ready to be put straight onto your bench grinder.

We have them available in both 6" and 8" sizes.

The CBN wheel requires very little pressure from the user to produce a very sharp edge to your tools.

You can set up your grinding jigs and know you are going to get repeatable results every time as the wheel will not wear down like a standard white aluminium oxide wheel.

It is prefered to use some kind of jig as the CBN can wear away a HSS tool very quickly if not controlled properly.

The safety factor of these wheels is they do not produce grinding dust like your standard matrix wheels.

You should always adhere to strict safety use and wear protective glasses, visor or goggles.
