Variable Speed Motor
These Australian made motors are just the upgrade you need to go to variable speed. They come in flange mount as per the main picture or foot mounted to fit most standard lathes or other machines you want to convert to variable speed.
The motor is 1hp 240v. They have a speed range of 600rpm - 1800rpm completely variable in that range via a potentiometer control.
When you couple this to your lathe or machine with your standard pulleys you are given a large range of speeds to use. To use an example on the 3rd step on an 8 step pulley on the N3000 lathe you have a variable speed range of 300rpm - 850rpm.
These motors have a remote switch on a 2.0m lead so it is accessable wherever you want to set the switch up. This feature makes it easier to control the motor in its speed and turning the unit on and of without reaching over everything.
To calculate the speed range you can have: Driver divided by driven multiplied by engine revs. In this case you have low speed and high speed to work with to give you your full range.
